The conversation
How do you start a charity and build a school in Kenya? I sat down with my old co-host Monique Medved, a filmmaker and YouTuber who left the podcast to start the charity Always A Way.
Monique raised $30,000 in 30 days through her YouTube community to back Helen, a Maasai teacher who survived child marriage and now runs two boarding schools for 168 kids. We get into what those schools cost to run each year (about US$250,000), why the kids learn to type on paper printouts of keyboards, why every kid she asked wanted to be a lawyer, doctor, teacher or pilot, and the 3am night in a Ugandan guest house that showed her what faith feels like.
She also shares why she asks her team never to say "donate", and why slow, honest storytelling builds a more loyal audience than chasing viral reels.
